Here's a simple extension for Chrome Im working on called Tab Marker that came about because of a question on StackOverflow....

...Ill stick it in the extension gallery when Ive done the options page and done some better icons (I HATE doing icons ).
Simply, it lets you change the favicon of the tab your currently viewing.
So far its just a popup that lets you pick from some predefined icons.
In the future Ill add an options page to pick which icons show in the popup, reorder the icons in the popup and add your own images.

Sorry its so ugly but Im still crap at css/html ;P

CRX Mime type doesnt seem to be set for the forum, so after its downloaded drag the download tab into the window to install it.

It doesnt work on the tab it was installed from until you have refreshed the page....wierd?

PAEz, you can change the mime type in the AdminCP.
I added the crx extension, but never looked up the correct mime type.

After looking, it appears that you can't set a mime type.
My bad. I had remembered it wrong.

I looked in the db and all themes uploaded by SPCM2011 have the correct mimetype, but mine and toxic's themes don't.
I'm thinking it is the browser used to upload the crx files. I use Firefox.
If the script is getting the mimetype from the browser, Chrome would obviously be giving the correct type.
This means it will be harder to fix this problem.

BTW... Assume massive ignorance here. I only wanted a solution. Not a Geek (no aspersions intended).

I downloaded your extension. Placed it in a folder under Downloads/chrome (which may be the issue). Can't see where it makes a difference.

1. Does it need to be in a specific location?
2. Do I need to restart Chrome. You say something about refreshing the tab where downloaded.
3. What should I expect to see (I assume it has a visual) to differentiate a marked tab?

I couldnt be bothered finishing this as it also changed the icon in the bookmarks and it annoyed me so much I dumped it.

If you want to install it then download the file and drag it onto chrome and then click continue down the bottom.

It allows you to change the fav icon of the current tab to something that is more noticable.
